  สถาปัตยกรรมงดงาม ภาพวาดฝาผนังงดงาม พนักงานที่นี่ใจดี ใครมาที่นี่ นอกจากชมความงดงามของพระอุโบสถและพระวิหารแล้ว ห้ามพลาดชม "ศาลาการเปรียญ" ในสมัยรัชกาลที่ ๓ ได้มีประกาศห้ามสูบฝิ่นและมีการปราบปรามฝิ่นอยู่เนืองๆ ทรงปราบเรียบตั้งแต่ภาคกลางลงไปจนกระทั่งถึงภาคใต้ ในการปราบปรามครั้งใหญ่ที่สุดคราวหนึ่งเมื่อปี พ.ศ. ๒๓๘๒ เป็นการกวาดล้างฝิ่นในภาคใต้ตั้งแต่เมืองปราณบุรีถึงนครศรีธรรมราช และอีกด้านหนึ่งของฝั่งทะเลคือตะกั่วป่าถึงถลาง สามารถจับฝิ่นดิบเข้ามาได้ถึง ๓๗๐๐ กว่าหาบ ฝิ่นสุก ๒ หาบ สำหรับตัวฝิ่นนั้น โปรดฯ ให้เผาทำลายที่หน้าพระที่นั่งสุทธาสวรรย์ เหลือแต่กลักฝิ่นซึ่งทำด้วยทองเหลืองอยู่จำนวนมาก จึงโปรดฯ ให้นำมาหล่อพระพุทธรูปได้พระขนาดหน้าตักถึง ๔ ศอก นำมาประดิษฐานเป็นพระประธานในศาลาการเปรียญ วัดสุทัศนเทพวราราม ต่อมารัชกาลที่ ๔ ทรงถวายพระนามว่า “พระพุทธเสฏฐมุนี” หรือที่พุทธศาสนิกชนทั่วไปนิยมเรียกว่า “หลวงพ่อกลักฝิ่น”

  Wat Suthat( 蘇泰寺 ) begun to built at the end of reign of Rama I and was completed by Rama III. It is a royal temple located in the center of Rattanakosin city. The prayer hall (lying on vertiacl axis)of Wat Suthat was in Ayutthaya architectural style , built to house the Buddha Statue brought from an ancient Sukhothai city. The wall painting in the prayer house were painted during the reign of Rama III. The ordination hall (lying on horizontal axis) was built by Rama III. When you are inside the prayer hall, kneeing in front of the golden buddha statue, surronding by old religious stories paintings and hearing chanting of believers you will feel solemn and peaceful.

  This is one of the Royal temples. It is well preserved and serene place in the middle of Bangkok. It is quite courtyards and spectacular temple and prayer hall. Both have large Buddha images and extensive murals on the walls.

  The temple is very nice. The walls have huge paintings. A nice place to spend some time.

  The courtyard surrounded by high walls sometimes makes you forget you're currently located in the heart of Bangkok, because no tall skyscrapers or other modern structures are visible.
