  紙の地図を頼りにวัดเจดีย์ปล่อง(Wat Chedi Plong)という名前のお寺を探していたところ、道路脇に円筒に近い形状の古い仏塔が見つかった。 ここがその寺院かと周囲を見渡したが、寺院らしき建物は見当たらない。 廃寺になったのかと思いながらも仏塔脇の道を70ｍほど入ると、そこには綺麗な真新しい仏殿がある。 しかし、寺院名の記載されている看板はวัดเชียงโฉม(Wat Chiang Chom)。 どうやらWat Chedi Plongは廃寺となり、その敷地内に新しくWat Chiang Chomを建立したらしい。 円筒状の古い仏塔は、Wat Chedi Plongの遺跡という事である。 ちなみにWat Chedi Plongを直訳すると「煙突の仏塔寺院」。 仏塔の形状から来た名前だろうと推測される。 歴史のある仏塔と新しい綺麗な仏殿が一緒に拝観出来る寺院である。

  Chedi Plong also called Chiang Chom temple is known for its characteristics of having many buddha statues around; only three temples in Chiang Mai have this interesting feature such as Chiang Rak temple and Chiang Yeun; all these temples are outside the moat. It is nice little peaceful temple which have beautiful thai art on church's window. Also a small house in temple for old people from this community to do some activites together.
