Today is March 26, 2018. It is 10:29 pm and I have to be at work early in the morning. Makro is having a concert, the music is so loud that I can hear with my windows closed. The music doesn't need to be so loud that everyone in the neighborhood can to hear it. The local Thai won't complain about the noise, but I will.

Do you know Makro? Makro is an international brand of warehouse clubs, also called cash and carries. Ownership of the worldwide chain of stores is split between two companies: Metro AG in Europe and SHV Holdings in Latin America. SHV opened the first Makro in Amsterdam in 1968. In the following years more stores opened in the Netherlands and several other European countries and in 1971, South Africa. In the 1970s and 1980s Makro extended its business to the Americas and Asia. Makro had also expanded to the United States in the mid-1980s. In 1989, Kmart bought the US locations and converted most of them to Pace Warehouse in 1990. The Asian stores were also eventually sold out to various firms and are no longer banded "Makro". Makro stores are NOT OPEN TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. EXCEPT in Belgium, Brazil and THAILAND. Siam Makro Public Company Limited was established in 1988. There about more than 85 Makro stores and five Siam Frozen Food stores in operation in Thailand. We love shopping in Makro because: Makro sells food and non-food products, usually located in different sections of the store which makes shopping easier and shopping is cheaper. Each store also contains a hot-food cafeteria and a cash machine. The food section always includes a fresh fish section, a wine section, fresh meat and butchery department, and refrigerated aisles. The non-food area includes clothing, DIY (Do-It-Yoursef), office supplies, all kind of electricals, computing, and seasonals such as garden furniture. Based on our personal experiences we can highly recommend shopping in Makro.

Catering mostly for shops and restaurants but also for individuals, Macro is a one stop superstore, cash and carry, no frills. Clean and efficiently managed. Macro is a great place for quality fresh produce, sea food and meats. Items, foodstuffs to chemical cleaners are bulk packed, multiple packaging. Some good bargains are offered in the regular promotions. Toilets/ restrooms accessable for all plus a food hall for a sit-down cheap meal. Unfortunately high use of plastic packaging / wrapping.

Not the neatest of Makro's I have been in but it definitely has everything you're looking for. The international spice section is good and the fresh produce is plentiful. I think they are busy renovating, which is a positive step forward.

One of their biggest branches available. Tons of products as you would expect. They are laid out nicely, given the size of the place. Beverages section can be crowded. Minimum of 500 baht purchase will give you 2hr free parking. Then you'll pay a hefty 50 baht per hour!
