Great Hotel, large room with very comfy bed overlooking the pool. All the staff were very polite and helpful especially the two doorman I met. Lots of choice for breakfast and plentiful. I will definitely stay again when I next visit Chaing Mai.

Great hotel. All facilities are excellent. Rooms are convenient. Swimming pool very fine but the water is a little bit cold. There is sauna and steam bath and small pool. Towels are available. Gym is big. Want to come here again one day.

The people there need to be more friendly. For a Thai people this hotel is a shame regarding human relation. We are used to go to hotels in Thailand where everyone says hello and smile to you. In this hotel you will not see them smiling. Despite all. The service is fine. Room is nice but the you can hear what your room neighbors are saying.

I have no doubts that the DTW was once a 4-star hotel. But clearly, its heyday is well behind it. Things got off to a rocky start when I was checked into a smoking room. The clerk didn't ask if I wanted a smoking room, didn't inform me I was getting one, and when I came back down to inquire why, only offered to send someone up to spray my room with some kind of perfumed chemical. The next night I was fortunately able to switch to a smokeless room. Like most hotel beds in Asia, my mattress was rock hard. Slept on a folded over blanket to try to soften things. Few amenities in the rooms (no toothbrush, for example.) Rooms are a bit outdated but in decent condition. Was hard to get an iron sent to my room. The facilities we used for the conference were fine. The gym was pretty good and the pool was fine, but the water was ice cold. Colder than the ocean water near San Francisco. Buffet breakfast and lunch were solid, particularly lunch. The breakfast fare got old pretty fast. Very central location, but a lot of the authentic nightlife in the area is happening away from the hotel. Wouldn't stay again.

I feel my 3 stars is generous but fair. Located in a good central location, although the road is a bit seedy seems to be a bit like the red light district. A lot of bars didn't seem family friendly but there were a few places you could eat/drink as a family. Good access to local amenities. Lots of food places, bars, culture. The hotel itself, lobby lifts seem to take a long time and usually full when they arrive, we quickly discovered using the express lift was best as it was nearly always empty and much quicker. The hotel seemed reasonably clean. Dated but I guess most locally would be of the same era. The rooms, paper thin walls, loud plumbing, we bought ear plugs on the first night. It may have seemed worse being jet lagged and tired but for us it was noisy and our party in 2 other adjacent rooms agreed. Nice firm beds, clean bedding and bathroom, reasonable shower etc (a clean bed and bathroom make up the ability to get past the first 2 stars for me, they're the necessary stuff for a stay anywhere) Breakfast Buffet left a bit to be desired, I appreciate breakfast is different the world over but even the Thai food on offer wasn't great. Coffee and fruit juices were good, I resorted to pancakes and bacon as it seemed like a good combo that was hard to get wrong and they had cereals/toast to. Lots of local cuisine available and we ate lunch/dinner out anyway. I did see a dead cockroach in a corridor on the way into breakfast one morning, now I appreciate the country I'm in and they regularly fumigate the communal areas of the hotel. So it just seemed unfortunate! So to sum it up, I wasn't bowled over, but it's an experience as is most of Thailand. If your looking for a nice western hotel then you need to look in a nice western country. This was all part of the adventure in the area it's in and I'm not sure any other hotel would have had much more on offer!
