  I'm always suspicious if doctors don't look at you when entering his office, dont ask any questions and come with a conclusion after 2 minutes. In this case the doctor saw a lot of air in my stomach and immediately came with an endoscopy of 20.000 baht...because it must be the H.pylori bacteri. HE didn't really listen to my history of gastritis and immune issues and previous testing of this bacteri. He also told me that Singapore doctor was probably wrong in his diagnosis....very painful knowing that Singapore has one of the best healthcare in Asia. When I asked him; iF it's not the H pylori what can it be? He didn't have an answer..... Conclusion: not a good experience with an arrogant doctor who's English was very poor. Go for simple cases, and do some research before you go if you are not sure what you might have, to save you money and irritation.

  Had to attend outpatient to get treatment. From entering the building the speed and efficiency at which we were processed was fantastic. From entering the hospital, seeing a doctor, to getting the percription filled was only 30 minutes. Better than any Australian hospital by far.

  As I live both in Phuket and northern Italy. I have had the same treatments both at this hospital and in private unsubsidized private clinics in Italy (as no resident I don't have coverage there) and the conclusion is that for many things this and similar Thai “international” hospitals tend to be more expensive and no as good as the Italian counterparts. In particularly where imported equipment use is involved (any sort of laboratory and investigative high-tech tool). Even a simple abdomen UT is more expensive here. Doctors fees are lower here but so is the doctors professional level. The vast majority are very inexperienced freshly graduated, locally educated docs with very limited English ability. There is hardly any senior doctor around. I went for the same problems in both countries and the Thai experience was not worth and had to be repeated to get some results. Drugs price and availability is also a major problem. The drugs available here are a small fraction of what is available in the west. Newer drugs are not available and, in many instances, I could not find drugs I had prescribed in Italy or other countries I had lived in. If you find them, the drug prices are always higher, sometimes multiple times. Even a very basic over the counter Urinary Alkalizer for my girlfriend bladder infection could not be found anywhere in Phuket. At this hospital pharmacy they had it but I had to get an expensive doctor consultation, a prescription and then buy a very expensive bulk package. A very simple example of 3rd world healthcare. The one thing this hospital is better, is the ability to walk in and get things done the same day. Typically consultation-lab tests-consultation in just a few hours. As the hospital is grossly overstaffed as compared to a western counterpart, the customer service experience is also better here. There is always someone available to excort you around and there are plenty of lovely smiles of the beautiful ladies strategically placed around the hospital. However, if you compare the cost of living, the implications of running a business and statuory regulations in both countries the only conclusion you could come to is that this hospital and the others of the same class are run only with unrestrained greed and profiteering. It’s no surprise that the life expectancy in this country is 10 years less. If you don’t have money you die much younger here. Unless you have an emergency, don’t be part of it.

  Over price. One big money machine. I did not have any blood tranfusion or 3 other thing they put on the bill...no go no good

  My boyfriend came here to see a specialist and get some imaging done on his leg. He went to 3 different specialists while they tried to diagnose him. I was so nervous thinking of the bills piling up as each doctor sent him to a new one. To our surprise, the doctors who couldn't help him did not charge him at all. He ended up requesting an ultrasound and the total cost for everything was about $300 USD. Each specialist would have cost hundreds in the USA along with the imaging and seeing a regular doctor for a referral.. Not to mention it would have taken weeks of going back and forth. I cannot recommend this place enough. We barely had to wait for anything and it was not crowded. The longest wait was just waiting to pay. No one tried to hard sell us anything. We also got some adult vaccines and they were very cheap compared to the states.
